Mintlify Documentation

Mintlify SEO for Product Documentation

Connect your MDX pages, navigation, and technical references to the product questions that matter.

Decodability improves existing Mintlify documentation for software teams. We work on content, navigation, search access, and AI-readable product context within your current publishing setup.

Illustrative MDX / workflow guide

A task deserves more than an endpoint.

---
title: "Send a purchase event"
description: "Record purchases for
segmentation in Example Software."
sidebarTitle: "Purchase events"
---

Descriptive metadata starts the explanation. The page still needs prerequisites, supported behaviour, verification, and useful links.

Check the configuration.
Then improve the explanation.

A polished API reference can leave buyers unsure which product capability it enables. A useful workflow guide can also be difficult to discover if its navigation and indexing treatment do not match its purpose.

Mintlify pages use MDX with frontmatter for titles and descriptions, with sidebarTitle available for a shorter navigation label. We review those fields against the page's actual intent.

Platform reference: Mintlify page metadata and MDX documentation. We check the controls available in your workspace before agreeing implementation.

Navigation and hidden pages

Review the docs.json navigation and the pages omitted from it. Mintlify excludes hidden pages from search and AI-assistant context by default; its indexing configuration can change that. Decide the intended audience before changing access or indexing.

API detail connected to product tasks

Add a workflow explanation around relevant endpoint references: authentication, required inputs, expected response, failure cases, and what the product does next. Keep the API contract authoritative.

Rendered technical signals

Inspect published titles, descriptions, canonicals, crawl rules, redirects, and internal links. Review available Markdown and llms sources, while treating those formats as access aids rather than proof of AI visibility.

Connect the API request
to the product workflow.

Illustrative content for a fictional event-processing product, not a runnable API contract.

Before / API reference

Create event

POST an event to the API. Include the name and properties. A successful response means the request was accepted.

Acceptance alone does not explain identity matching, processing, or downstream use.
After / Guides / purchase events

Record a purchase for audience segmentation

This example workflow records a purchase against an existing customer identity. Use the endpoint reference for exact authentication, required fields, and response codes.

  • Explain how the product associates the event with a customer and validates properties.
  • Distinguish an accepted request from completed processing and segment membership.
  • Link the event reference, processing checks, and audience-rule guide.
The workflow belongs in the relevant docs.json navigation group. Its title and description should describe the task rather than repeat an endpoint name.

A content plan that respects
your publishing workflow.

We inventory MDX pages and navigation, map search intent to supported capabilities, and separate quick metadata fixes from deeper workflow rewrites. Your engineers validate code, endpoint behaviour, and configuration changes before release.

The agreed Documentation Growth as a Service (DGAAS) scope can include a configuration and content audit, navigation recommendations, priority guides, reference-to-workflow links, indexing checks, and launch observations. Decode, Structure, Rebuild, and Launch & Optimize guide the managed 60-day engagement.

Mintlify generates llms.txt and llms-full.txt sources. Mintlify GEO work still centres on the knowledge they expose: clear terminology, integration boundaries, self-contained explanations, and accurate supporting context.

Platform reference: Mintlify's automatically generated llms files. We check the controls available in your workspace before agreeing implementation.

Documentation GEO and Documentation SEO are connected capabilities, not separate platform subscriptions from Decodability.

Questions about Mintlify optimisation.

Should every hidden page become indexable?

No. A hidden page may have an intentional purpose. We review public relevance, duplication, sensitivity, and existing navigation before recommending changes. Hiding a page is not an authentication control.

Can you change API documentation without changing the API?

Yes. We can improve task explanations, prerequisites, metadata, and relationships to reference pages. We do not invent parameters, rewrite endpoint behaviour, or change your API contract for a search term.

Will llms.txt guarantee AI citations?

No. It is a supporting source format. Retrieval and responses vary by system, question, access, and other signals. We improve the underlying content and record observable accuracy and source references without promising mentions.
